Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 30 min review

Welcome to the first 30 minute review. As a corporate gamer we rarely have time to play a game all the way through if at all, hence the 30-min review.

If a game can either hold my attention, or if I have time to play it for 30 minutes, I will post a review and recommend if you should buy it new, used, or not at all. Buying new shouldn't be a problem for any Corporate Gamer, but none of us wants to continue adding to our unplayed game library (44 and counting) so let' find out what you should be wasting that disposable income on right now!

Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 (PS3)

I played the PS3 version of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 since we all know that that controller is tits when it comes to fighting games.

After the obilgatory 1.5GB game install which only took 10 minutes as opposed to the normal hour for new PS3 games (DC Universe took like 3 hours), the game started with earnest. (I started the disc at 4:07pm on a Wednesday).

The intro video is filled with you standard Capcom craziness, making everyone look a lot cooler and angrier than they really are, but doing it in a mix of the SFIV and Comic Book style developed specifically for this game. Some of the intro matchups make sense (Dante vs. Deadpool!) some are appropriate for the series but weird (Ryu vs. Wolverine) and one is just stupid (Chris Redfield vs. the Hulk). However the whole thing is entertaining and definitely holds your interest for 2 minutes or so.

Racing through the menus (I only have 30 min ya' know) I started the offline mode to get an idea of how the game has evolved since the last time I played the arcade version of MvC2 at a anime convention in San Jose (for those who are wondering I got my ass handed to me).

Picking two of my favs (Ryu and Spiderman_ and one random, (Dr. Doom) I began the game in earnest watching the ever ticking watch as closely as my eyes could muster without being totally sucked in by the amazing graphics.

The action was fast, frenetic, and incredibly fun. Although I was rushing through the game as quickly as I could using the cheapest combos I could remember, I was never bored by the action, and the visuals in the background and foreground merged seamlessly for a pretty impressive presentation.

As I glanced at the clock on the cable box I realized I had reached the final boss (with no losses mind you) in approximately 12 minutes. Sweet! 3 minutes to spare to beat the game and have a perfect 30 minute corporate gaming experience. The final stage is as epic as any fan of Marvel comics would want it to be and the game definitely satisfies on many levels.

I can't wait for some time on the weekend to play the game for another 30 minutes and delve ever so slightly deeper into the wealth of characters, game modes, and fun that this title affords.

Corporate Gamer Recommendation: BUY!

Extra Bonus: For those of you who are wondering the final boss killed my two HERO characters and I finished the game with Dr. Doom. Not what I had planned, but interesting since Dr. Doom had a sinister plan all along to take over the Earth and potentially my game-playing experience. The 4th wall indeed has been broken. Deadpool has some new competition. Muhahahahahhaa!
